Based on what has gone on so far this week, it looks like the Redskins are in the #5 spot if the draft was starting today. Thanks to wins by Miami and Carolina it looks like the 'Skins will jump ahead of both teams (because of strength of schedule) and move from 7th to 5th in draft order.
The Redskins could move up to #4 overall with a Jaguars win tonight against the Chargers.
It is possible with a few wins by the Rams, Vikings and Jaguars that the 'Skins could go to #2 overall* and it is possible but practically improbable for the 'Skins to be the #1 overall team if the Colts were to win all four of their final games and the 'Skins to lose all four. That however is just not happening with the Ravens hosting the Colts in Baltimore on Sunday.
Right now barring a trade, it looks like Luck will be off the table. That means the Redskins will have to choose another passer possibly Matt Barkley, Robert Griffin III, Landry Jones or Ryan Tannehill. I will have a top 5 QB ranking with some video evidence later in the week.
Don't be surprised though to see the Redskins make some trades again this year and I would not be surprised to see the Redskins trading back a bit, and drafting a player and then accumulating more picks. It also wouldn't surprise me to see the 'Skins trade back a few spots, draft a WR in the first round and then taking a QB like Tannehill in the early 2nd or trading back into the 1st to get their man. Just speculation on my part. The Redskins aren't looking at the draft right now (except for the scouting department) and there is still the Bowl games, all-star games and combine to look forward to watching before we can get into the meat of the draft. That said, why not start looking at scenarios? The Redskins aren't going to the playoffs. We might really start looking at the future of the franchise.
